School News

On Thursday volunteers with the OSPCA visited every class reminding us how to look after our pets. We had a special visit from Minnie the dog and two lovely kittens. Thanks to all who donated pet food and money to the OSPCA. They were very impressed.

5th and 6th classes

In Maths we have been learning about gathering data and representing it on various types of graphs. We drew bar charts and trend graphs. We also created graphs on our tablets.

In Science we were learning about gravity and air resistance. We had fun carrying out an experiment to see which material made the best parachute. Our results showed a tissue paper parachute was best. However, none of us would use it to jump out of a plane!

In Art we painted our Bronze Age weapons and jewellery.

The children in Cairdeas made a beautiful Autumn display.

5th and 6th classes

In History the children have been learning about the Bronze Age . For Art they made jewellery, tools and weapons from clay.

3rd and 4th classes

In Science, the children have been dissolving different substances in water. We found the saturation point of a solution. We dissolved different types of sugar in hot and cold water.

In Art we made some leaf prints.

In Maths we drew different types of graphs.

1st class

In Science, we made some butter. After making it we got to sample it on some crackers. Yum! Yum!

Senior Infant and 2nd classes

In Maths, we have completed a graph displaying the results of a survey. The survey involved us asking questions to the children in the school about their favourite subjects, colours and pets.

Junior Infants

Junior Infants went to explore our local area in the Glebe Walk.

In Art, we made some hedgehogs using leaves.

Look at how good we are at cutting.

24 children from 3rd to 6th classes took part in the Offaly Primary Schools Cross Country Competition on Thursday 1st October. Well done to all for taking part. A special mention to our Bronze medal winner.

Tullamore to Calais Project

Geashill School, along with most other Offaly primary schools, is supporting the Tullamore to Calais project as our response to the refugee crisis developing in Europe. Children have brought in Hygiene Packs which will be shipped to Calais along with other supplies. We really appreciate your support for this most worthy cause.

Welcome back everyone.
We give a special welcome to our 15 Junior Infants and our 4 new entrants to Cairdeas.
