Geashill N.S. Open Day
Geashill National School held their annual Open Day on Tuesday, 17th June for pupils, parents, new entrants, past pupils and members of the community.
All pupils from Junior Infants to sixth class participated in an afternoon of music, dance, drama, recitations and Comhrá Gaeilge. These presentations were based on various areas of the school curriculum.
Mr. M Hyland, principal, and Msgr. Coonan welcomed the large audience and Mr. Hyland outlined the programme for the afternoon. He also spoke about various successes the school has had in competitions during the year.
Following this, each class performed a selection of music, dance, songs and poems. Parents of junior infants were enthralled to see how their children had mastered the basic steps of Rince Gaelach.
The middle and senior classes, who form the school band, played a variety of tunes on their tin whistles. Pupils from the middle classes accompanied their singing with percussion instruments.

A selection of the children's visual Arts has been on display in the school hall during the week and has been viewed by a large number of people.
Special guests included our Local Olmpian Pauline Curley who presented the football teams with their medals and also raised our 2nd Green Flag with the eldest pupil Rachel Hanley and the youngest pupil Kate Quinlan.
Also Rose Finlay attended on behalf of retired Deputy Principal Mrs. Finlay where their was a presentation and gifts from the school pupils.
