Geashill Tidy Towns

Congratulations to everyone in Geashill on the winning the Offaly Tidy Towns Award 2011 and 2012.

Geashill Village has a long and proud history in the tidy towns competition.

Over the years we in the school have tried to help the committee in any way we can for example, our Green Flag initiatives. We are working towards our 4th Green Flag.

In 2011 we have developed even stronger links with the committee through the following:

  • Geashill Tidy Towns Logo competition
  • Wildlife conservation ie putting up bird boxes in the village and school grounds; visit from wildlife artist Gordon D'arcy
  • An increased emphasis on Geashill's heritage and rich history
  • Workshop on architecture of some buildings in Geashill. Children in 5th & 6th classes built models of cottages in Geashill with the help of recycling artist Gerard Foran.

Eoin Corcoran's art design won the prize of becoming Geashill Tidy Town's Logo. See picture below.
